Carmel | California
I hadn't been to the west coast in years... so it was due time. We had been planning this family vacation for a while now and I was excited to actually get away and really relax, no work, no emails, no bookings, no editing.. nothing! We stayed in Carmel, at The Lodge at Pebble Beach and it was luxurious. We went with my sister's husband's family (we all get along really well) and the guys spent their days on the course and us girls shopped and did a lot of sight-seeing.
The first few days were cold and foggy but the beach was still as beautiful and serene as ever.
Carmel-by-the-sea is a charming little european style town situated right near the water.
A few of my favorite stops in Carmel-by-the-sea
Breakfast at The Cottage: A perfect little cinderella style tea house. I got the smoked salmon eggs benedict.
Lunch at La Bicyclette: A European treat! The atmosphere is very cool and casual. We got the forage board to start and enjoyed the pepperoni and sausage pizzas for our meal.
Dinner at Forge in The Forest: One of the best dinners we had. We sat in an ivy lined round booth I got the lobster linguini.
Dinner at Casanova: My favorite place. On the expensive side and the menu is limited but this is as close to real Italian dining you will get. The dining "room" is outside and built around an old tree. I got the Oysters to start and the ravioli for my entree.
Dinner at Vesuvio: We ate here our last night. Proper Italian fare, I got the truffle gnocchi starter as my meal and their bruschetta was delicious.
The best part about Carmel, is not doubt the sunsets. Every single evening was so extraordinarily beautiful. The literal, hand work of God.
